Arabic Letter Heh Medial Form

Arabic Letter Heh Medial Form at U+FEEC is a contextual presentation form of the Arabic letter heh, showing the shape used when the letter connects on both sides inside a word. It belongs to Arabic Presentation Forms-B, a block that preserves precomposed display forms used by older text systems rather than the preferred way to encode ordinary Arabic writing. In normal Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and related script text, writers use the base letter heh and let the shaping engine choose the medial form automatically. This shape appears in words where heh occurs between joining letters, such as Arabic words built with the sound h in the middle, or Persian and Urdu spellings where the corresponding heh-derived letter joins to neighbors. Its practical use today is mostly in legacy documents, font tests, glyph charts, and round-tripped data from systems that stored Arabic text as visual forms. The main gotcha is that this character is not equivalent in behavior to typing the regular Arabic letter: searching, normalization, sorting, and text editing may treat it differently unless software converts presentation forms back to their standard characters.
