Ahom Letter Gha

Ahom Letter Gha at U+11717 writes the voiced aspirated velar consonant gha in the Ahom script. It belongs to the Ahom Unicode block, a script block used for encoding historical Tai Ahom writing from Assam and related scholarly materials. In real use, this character appears mainly in editions, transcriptions, and digital reproductions of Ahom manuscripts. Tai Ahom texts include chronicles, ritual writings, lexical materials, and religious or courtly documents, where a word needing the consonant value gha is written with this letter as part of the native script rather than a Latin transliteration. It is also used in language revival, teaching, and research on the Ahom language and script. Grammars, primers, dictionaries, corpus projects, museum catalogs, and academic articles may include 𑜗 when showing original spellings or comparing Ahom forms with transliterated forms such as gha. Because Ahom is a specialist historical script rather than a common everyday keyboard script, font availability is the main practical issue: without an Ahom-capable font, the letter may not display as intended.
