Meetei Mayek Letter Ddha

Meetei Mayek Letter Ddha at U+AAE7 represents the consonant ddha in the Meetei Mayek script, used for writing Meiteilon, also called Manipuri. It belongs to the Meetei Mayek Extensions block, which contains additional letters needed for extended and historical orthography beyond the core script set. This letter is mainly encountered in Manipuri-language text that uses the traditional Meetei Mayek writing system, especially in educational materials, dictionaries, linguistic descriptions, and digital editions that aim to spell words accurately in the native script. The sound value is associated with an Indic-style voiced aspirated retroflex stop, comparable to the “ḍha” transliteration used in scholarly romanization. Because it is an extension letter rather than one of the most familiar basic Meetei Mayek letters, it is most relevant to complete script support: fonts, keyboards, text rendering, corpus work, and language preservation projects. In casual digital communication, writers may avoid less accessible letters if their keyboard or font setup does not support the full Meetei Mayek range.
