Miao Letter Reformed Tone-2

Miao Letter Reformed Tone-2 at U+16F9B is a tone letter used in the Reformed Pollard writing system for Miao languages, marking a specific lexical tone rather than a consonant or vowel. It belongs to the Miao block, which encodes Pollard-script letters, finals, and tone signs used for Hmongic languages in southwestern China. In practical text, this character appears at the end of a Miao syllable to distinguish words that have the same segmental spelling but different pitch patterns. It is most relevant in A-Hmao and related Miao-language materials written in Reformed Pollard orthography, including Bible translations, literacy primers, dictionaries, linguistic examples, and community publications. Modern use is specialized but still meaningful wherever Pollard-script Miao text is digitized faithfully. Linguists, educators, font makers, and archives use this tone letter to preserve the exact orthographic form of a word; replacing it with an ordinary digit 2 would lose the script-specific spelling and can interfere with searching or collation in Miao text.
