Runic Letter Fehu Feoh Fe F

Runic Letter Fehu Feoh Fe F at U+16A0 represents the f-sound rune associated with the names Fehu in Old Norse and Feoh in Old English. It is part of the Runic block and is used for texts written in early Germanic runic alphabets, especially the Elder Futhark and Anglo-Saxon futhorc traditions. In real use, it appears in scholarly editions, museum labels, inscriptions databases, and teaching materials that transcribe runestones, bracteates, weapons, and other archaeological finds. A runologist may use it when quoting an inscription exactly in runic characters before giving a transliteration into Latin letters, where this rune is usually rendered as f. The rune is also seen in modern books and websites about Norse studies, Old English, historical linguistics, and reconstructed rune rows, where it marks the first position of the futhark sequence. In contemporary popular culture it may appear in Viking-themed art, games, jewelry, or neopagan contexts, often with the traditional meaning “wealth” or “cattle,” though those modern symbolic uses are separate from its function as a letter in historical writing systems.
