Tagbanwa Letter Ga

Tagbanwa Letter Ga at U+1764 is a consonant letter in the Tagbanwa script, representing the syllabic value ga with an inherent vowel unless modified by script conventions. It is part of the Tagbanwa Unicode block, which encodes characters for the traditional writing system associated with Tagbanwa communities of Palawan in the Philippines. Its main use is in writing and studying Tagbanwa text, especially in cultural, educational, and linguistic materials that preserve or teach the script. Like other Philippine abugida letters, it normally stands for a consonant plus vowel, so ᝤ is read as ga rather than as a bare g by default. The character appears most often in alphabet charts, Unicode test data, digital fonts, language documentation, and transcriptions of traditional or historical Tagbanwa writing. It may also be used in community heritage projects and signage or teaching resources where the indigenous script is shown alongside Latin-script Tagalog, Filipino, Cuyonon, or Tagbanwa-language text. Because Tagbanwa is not widely supported in older fonts and keyboards, this letter may show as a missing-glyph box on some systems. It should not be confused with visually similar letters from other Philippine scripts such as Buhid or Hanunoo, which are separate Unicode characters with different identities.
